It’s time to face the final challenge. I’m sure I’ve missed one or two bosses and a few secrets and catacombs here and there, but most of Elden Ring seems done. The hour approaches, Arelion must face his destiny – to become Eldenlord.
The battle for the Elden Ring has it all over again. Especially the Elden Beast sometimes drives you to despair, but not because of the difficulty level… it’s the camera. Giant enemies are always difficult to handle because you simply can’t see anything when you’re standing in front of them/inside them/underneath them.
When Arelion did the final blow with his Hellbarde (I mean it was his weapon art, not really a blow) it was silent. Suddenly the goal was achieved. Now it was time to prove the oath of allegiance to Ranni and to rule for a long time next to his wife (if I understood correctly).
Final (subjective) words: Hmm, I’m of two minds about Elden Ring. It’s an insanely great game, but it’s not Dark Souls. The boss fights are noticeably easier, perhaps due to the war ashes and spirit ashes. It was already significantly easier with the Ashes of Ghosts, but with the discovery of the Ashes of War…. well. What was still missing for me? I missed a cast, it didn’t really seem story-bound to me. It was just a bunch of monsters and bosses scattered around the worlds. But there was little plot to tie them together.
What do I like about Elden Ring? The landscape, the world, the visuals… phenomenal. Discovering the world, the many secrets, weapons and exploration. I like the crafting system, the game mechanics. The fighting itself is a bit more fun than in Dark Souls. But it’s also all a little less crisp.
In Dark Souls, I have favourite opponents who have grown close to my heart. I’ll mention the Knight Astorias, the Slaveknight Gael, Sister Friede.
The boss fights here were set without much of a story. They were pretty and effectively staged, but I felt they lacked a bit of depth. More plot, more interweaving that you were really interested and got new chunks in the story in front of your feet. With the amount of bosses, I can’t think of any that stand out, no fight that kept me busy for longer.

In any case, Elden Ring is still a masterpiece. Especially in terms of game mechanics and visuals. Now it would have been really nice to breathe more charisma into the world. A storyline that calls for more details. You finally want to lay the next boss to hear what happens next.
And now let’s take a look at what we missed on the net. After the first playthrough, the net is now free for me. There are other chars who want to become Eldenlord (Nax Sharoon (Black Flame), Ja’ir Talass (Sorcerer), Asslik (Assassin), Farah (Mercenary/Samurai)). I have lot of questions and want to understand the game mechanic a little bit more. Especially the crafting and war ash dynamic (all the stats how they scale).
Another possibility would be to play another round with Arelion and this time try it without spirit or war ashes. I think the bosses would be a lot crisper then.
