The final battle to become Eldenlord has begun. I only tried a few times this time without support from my ancestors (spirit world). I ran out of patience and wanted it to finally happen, too long and too many opponents stood in my way. Now I am Eldenlord and hope to lead the realm into a better time and that life or death will be more bearable for everyone.
OOC: Unfortunately I failed in this run. The goal was to fight to the bitter end with Sir Henry in only noble cloth, no ghost (so really alone) and two Straight Swords. This worked by hook or by crook until I met Godfrey. I got there quite well after some time until the second phase, but then it was so obscure. The problem was always his shockwaves and his earthquake and the right time to jump up.
If I didn’t succeed, I was immediately dead and that was very frustrating. After about 50 attempts, I gave up and the fun was gone. With Radagon I only tried a few times and didn’t feel like it any more. Radagon itself is not that difficult, but here too… one mistake and you fall apart. With a thick armour, good swords and the support of the ghost, the game had gone from Hardcore to Normal.
I think my mistake was also trying to do the whole thing in NG+7. The bosses have significantly more life and hit much harder. In NG+7 with light armour you can only make one small mistake, otherwise you have to play perfectly. And especially when you have the opponent below 30% at some point and then because of a small timing error you are not defeated and instantly dead, it is unspeakably frustrating and you never want to play again.
For Godfrey it would have taken me another 2-4 hours to figure out the second phase. I didn’t find Radagon as bad as Godfrey, but the Eldenbeast was another candidate. It just takes too long to do Radagon again every time you die in the Eldenbeast. I hardly do any damage myself and he almost always knocks 90-100% of my health off, in cloth clothes.
I think I’ll try this again sometime with Sir Henry as a fresh character of my own.
But what remains to be said – well, at least I made it, NG+7. And I have to say, playing through again is quite nice at the beginning, but I enjoy new characters more. Also, these characters are then also permanently present.
What’s nice about a NG+ is that you already have almost all the things you need and don’t have to go on another farming trip for stones or flowers. Also that all the weapons are there to try out new things. But you also miss out on a lot of things. You miss out on many dungeons, bosses and side quests because you already have them. For me, NG+7 was a goal to reach the highest difficulty level. Now it’s done and I think I enjoy new characters more. You don’t have to have all the talismans, weapons, ghosts etc.. Depending on what you play, other things are interesting.
I would be happy to meet you at one of the next adventures, and if it is organisationally possible for me at some point, also with some voice talk. But maybe you also like it when nobody talks all the time?
Thank you for your attention, have a nice day.
