And just when you are familiar with the weapon, the hammer and chisel, and have become comfortable with the character, the journey is already over. It’s kind of frustrating and also very little. I think if you just run through and concentrate on the bosses you can finish the game in under 2h. The fight with the Unchained is really the highlight and fun. When I didn’t know it was the final fight, I always thought wow…. now we leave the tutorial and the game really starts. The game has a lot of bugs and is really short for a Souls-like game. It’s a good game, but it’s still missing some things for very good. My initial euphoria died down a bit when I noticed the many game bugs. Mortal Shell could have used some more time, both in terms of design and programming.
What to say about Tiel… a really cool character, I would have liked to see a bit of a story around him. Who is he, where does he come from. He has something of an assassin and so the quick hammer and chisel suited him well. After Harros with the slower but more far-reaching sword, Tiel was a real change. Whereas with Harros I concentrated more on jumping attacks, Tiel taught me to work with hardening and dodging. That is much more fun now. Unfortunately, the game is so short… the game principle and the game mechanics really make you want more. The artful, dark game design is also just great. Add to that the music by Atrium Canceri… how beautiful it is. But it was only a short excursion… a pity, a very very pity.
