Whew… that was fast. A surprising ending, so far quite well done, but still fast and surprising… simple. Eli as techno angel was now the big finale, the guy had to believe now for the third time. I didn’t have to use any tactics on him, I just hit it and timed some healing with punches. Then he fell already, directly at the first time. I hope the brat stays dead now.
What remains to be said? The Surge 2 was so hard at the beginning that I thought uff… feels like Dark Souls. However, this was only the beginning, you first had to understand the game mechanics, the upgrade mechanics and generally find the timing, etc. pure. At the beginning I thought that we a pure Parryspiel, I think with it one would drive here also better than with dodging, distance and the jumping (is in any case with the hammer quite nice). However, the game was actually easier and easier, maybe I’ve been too well equipped in terms of equipment. I have unfortunately not found a new electric hammer, something really wacky cool would have been great. My armor that increases the damage of the hammer I have then also no longer exchanged and concentrated only on collecting limbs – which was really fun.
The game mechanics are really fun and worth improving the design a bit. I would be happy to see a third part, but the bosses need work. I actually only had problems with the first boss (Little Jonny) until I understood how it worked. With the tactics I was then successful with all the others – distance, jump on, roll away, heal, jump on etc.
Maybe the hammer made it too easy for me, if I find Muse I would take a closer look at a spear or one of those fast fist weapons.
What I didn’t like so much was the level design. It was often very confusing and you were constantly sent back through familiar areas and many shortcuts were unnecessary and made the game too confusing. Maybe it’s my poor orientation, but I didn’t have these problems with Dark Souls.
