067 – Testing Weapons + Shields

After I found one more ash (The Sleepy Arrow) I am only missing two, these I can only get by playing through again. Since I’m now preparing for NG+1, I’m also trying to understand the weapons after the war ashes. I learned that a heavier shield costs less stamina when blocking, but the higher the total weight, the slower the stamina recharges. The Gargoyle Hellbarde is also a bit better than the Black Knight’s, but the range is also a bit shorter. I have also tested the spiked shield of the Crucible Knights, which matches the armour, but the big spike bothers me. It’s also lighter, so every block costs me more stamina. After that I tested the grave shield, which really blocks excellently, but then I miss my weapon ash. I also liked triggering the weapon kill with the shield. It’s interesting that you can also deal out good damage with the shields. The tombstone could keep up well with the Hellbarde, but the range and the weapon kill were poor. Weapon grease could not be applied either.

Also interesting, the fight with two Hellbarde. Here Arelion deals really nasty damage and just mowed through the opponents. The disadvantage, however, is that you are defenceless against opponents who also hit back properly. You have to be able to dodge offensively very well – which I’m not good at yet, unfortunately.

Currently I’m back to the initial setup – golden shield + black hellbarde. I think it’s a shame that you can’t colour the armour, weapons and shields. I would have liked to have everything in black, old gold or bronze.
But this should be the last video in the old game. NG+1 will be in touch with the next video 🙂
