Location: Lower Calrath
Boss killed: Infernal Enchantress
Visitors to Lower Calrath appreciate the warm welcome, especially at this time of year. It feels like the town has been burning for ages. I have to say, the difficulty level has remained the same, but the enemies now come in groups and all cover each other. There are ambushes everywhere and you rarely have time to enjoy the surroundings.
The city in particular is very atmospheric, but whether you’ve cleared all the enemies or not, the moment you’re in the inventory or marvelling at a street full of burning corpses… somewhere a burning undead crawls out of the fire, a fanatic with two axes throws himself off the roof or you are simply pushed off the cliff by something.
I really had some problems with orientation in Calrath and often went back through areas several times, sometimes it felt like there was somewhere to go but there was no hidden hole in the wall or a ladder in sight.
The city is really well made, I really like the design in the game and it’s really immersive. What I don’t like is the tremendous sneakiness with which the game was designed, when you just escape a mob, other groups are already waiting and if you just manage to grab them, bigger enemies join the fight and archers shoot from a distance. I like this type of game best in 1:1, where you can puzzle and duel a bit. I often find what’s on offer a bit unfair.
I have the feeling that I’m about to face a boss (logical, there’s been nothing going on for a long time), so I try to keep my Vigor together and upgrade my weapons here and there.
