Wow… Winter Wonderland… It’s really beautifully designed, a dark dream of ice and melancholy. Unfortunately, less effort has been put into the bosses. Instead of finesse, they’ve once again worked with a variety of enemies and multiple enemies at the same time. Too bad, I like duels… more duels, please. I don’t like groups of opponents. Here in the land of ice and speed there are now enemies who are invisible, enemies who summon enemies and melee fighters who lay ice bombs on the side when they strike… I’d like to know where they buy their weapons, I don’t have any nice toys like that. I have a halberd that also poisons easily, but that’s hardly worth mentioning. But it likes to get stuck on walls and ceilings, it only works through enemies like butter.
The final boss in this area with its story is nicely designed, but unfortunately really easy to see through. Somehow everything is slowly taking place only in the Umbral World, I don’t know if that was such a good idea in hindsight. Especially now that ice corpses are constantly appearing out of nowhere in the normal world and grabbing at you. They look very similar to the Umbral ghosts. There’s a slight lack of enemy variety. But the environment is really nicely done. I also like the monkeys. You just need to tweak the combat mechanics and enemy intelligence a bit. Sneaking was somehow only useful at the beginning, now the enemies hear and see you really early on.
But maybe I’m not seeing the pattern yet, the first time I play through everything probably still seems very chaotic, but if order is only achieved by knowing which enemies are where, it’s not really an art or skill.
