In such a gloomy game, of course, a crypt cannot be missing. If we are already guests in hell, we must also visit the cellar. I must say that I am extremely enthusiastic about Mortal Shell. In the crypt, of course, we meet delicious inhabitants like ghosts, undead mountains of muscle that pull meat hooks and rusty spears out of their bodies to hunt you down. But then came the surprise, a large glacier area where you have the feeling you are in a gloomy winter fairy tale.
For me personally, the game is a blast, the combat mechanics are incredibly fun and I’m happy to have small duels with opponents again. I don’t want a mass of opponents, but smart opponents with whom I’m already a bit busy.
The boss at the bottom was also well done, you quickly saw through the tactics, but it was still a good idea. I don’t think it’s so bad that the bosses are a little less tricky than in Dark Souls or Dark Souls 3. I currently have more problems with the normal enemies and have quickly learned to look carefully around the corners. I will definitely keep the developer Cold Symmetry in mind.
PS: I had a look who designed the ingenious soundscapes, of course it was one of my favourite producers… Artrium Carcaeri. If you like Dark Ambient, you should definitely check out this artist.
