002 – Shrine of Ash

Locations:Shrine of Ash (Temple Grounds, Monument of Ash, Sanctum of Flame)

I am still very excited, the atmosphere is fantastically oppressive and hopeless. The sound effects and background noises together with the dark ambient music is just great. This mood, graphics, sound etc. is how I would have liked Dark Souls 4 to be. I really have the feeling of being trapped in melancholic hopelessness here. The difficulty level forces you to think carefully about your next steps and tactics.
When something unexpected happens to me (slipping in a crevice or being blocked by an enemy), then it gets interesting. In any case, the Shrine of Ash is just as well done as the Walt/Swamp. I don’t know how big the area is and I’m already a bit afraid of what awaits me at the end and where I’ll cut my teeth.

What have I learned so far? Picking mushrooms. In the dungeon, I keep a close eye on where the mushrooms grow and often go back and stock up.

So far I’m very excited about Mortal Shell, what a pearl I almost missed. It doesn’t have the complexity and personalisation (appearance of the char, assigning skills, developing build + weapons), but it’s fun. I like that it’s different and yet very similar. I hope it’s not too short and it doesn’t have an edge of frustration.
