Oh, that came as a surprise. I thought the Ocean of Memories would be a new area and then the grand finale would come at some point. No, just a guy standing in the water who looks like me. Unfortunately, he didn’t have anything to offer either – Urd, Odur or Varg were a completely different calibre.
As I had to decide which cores I wanted to mix at the first stage, I got the chaos end straight away (this is probably the worst end you can get). So that I could see the others as well, I briefly mapped out which cores lead to which pictures. It’s a shame that there wasn’t a nice outro, it would have been great to find out a bit more. I also disliked the many texts to read, which I mostly skipped, it would have been nicer to have voice-overs with some graphic background.
It’s a shame, after I’d collected so much and prepared myself, I was already facing the end the whole time. What the heck, it was still fun. Now that I’ve finally understood how the game works and the weapon system works in my favour, it’s already over. It’s a shame, the game has a lot of bugs and some things need to be fixed, but for little money I felt really entertained.
If I had to give it a rating, I would say a 3+ to 2 in school grades. For a really good game, the combat system should have been improved a lot. The collision detection is too generous, you can’t cancel command stutters, the character’s controls feel cramped, as if you’re walking on a grid. The graphics are also not up to date. But importantly, it’s far too short, not quite as short as Mortal Shell, but still far too short. Now I would be ready for 2-3 more challenging areas.
The final boss should also be reworked, I mean it’s the final one and I haven’t even died.
Some hints for the end sequences:
Chaotic Power: Fool’s God’s Core + Varg’s Core
Power of the Vile Blood: Fool’s God’s Core + Sound of the Abyss’ Core
Blessing of the Pure Blood: Varg’s Core + Urd’s Core
Harmonized Force: Mutated Odur’s Core + The Hanged Queen’s Core
Power of Cleansing: Mutated Odur’s Core + The Hanged Queen’s Core + Moving Stick in end sequence
