The Asylum was quite easy to play. I was able to make a lot of mistakes without really getting into trouble. This gave me time to appreciate the surroundings. This oppressive rain, the winding corridors. I have to say, I would have liked it to be a bit bigger. Like a huge hospital, or an insane asylum like the ones you see in Batman. But I really like this one too. The rain and the darkness have a pleasant surreal atmosphere. It’s a shame that so little effort was put into the design of the interiors, they often seem bare and lacking in detail.
I was surprised by the fight against plagued Nemesis, I didn’t think he would cause any problems. After the easy climb up to him I was already spoilt and wanted to just punch him, but I quickly got out of the habit. I worked cleanly with the shield and hammer (if you can call the ship’s connecting rod a hammer).
After getting a new perk, I was looking forward to a new ability, but I’m a bit torn. I would like to have the illusion, but I also find the duellist interesting, especially the ability to block yellow blows later on. I’m sure I’ll get both abilities, but which one should I get first? The illusionist ability gives me another companion, which could be fun in close combat. The duellist, on the other hand, strengthens my shield skills by allowing me to strike at double speed after a block. Especially with fast opponents I notice that I have problems after the block, I always want to make a heavy blow and it often goes nowhere.
I think I’ll go for the duellist first, the illusionist will be a nice gimmick later on.
