I’ve been a big fan of spears and halberds since Elden Ring. I really like the moveset of spears, I like the forward stamping. In Dark Souls 1 I was very happy about the winged spear, by chance I had it in my inventory with Jackwood yesterday (other video Cleric Jackwood 001) and was almost tempted to change spears, because spears require a lot of skill.
But then there was Gary, the old spearman. Since I would like to give Dark Souls II a bigger chance, I thought… hmmm… why not, one of my favourite weapons in the old class, Dark Souls 2 has a good chance.
As for the game itself, I’m actually more and more annoyed with Dark Souls II. The animations seem old-fashioned, lack of light and shadow effects. It no longer seems as dark and threatening as in the first part. Some animations don’t match the movement. The character controls worse than in the first part. Enemies and bosses are simpler or look like copies of the movement from the first part.
The difficulty level is not increased by more intelligent enemies, but by the fact that you often get several enemies thrown at your feet. But what I find most annoying is that weapons break. The menu navigation also seems a little immature, and it is often difficult to reach things. Overall, the game seems quite beta, I really don’t know what Fromsoftware was thinking. Was there perhaps an internal team change?
I also find it very annoying that you can’t switch off the online mode. It’s a spam and so many grey figures, it ruins the whole atmosphere. You can only turn off the online mode in a complicated way via Steam and even then you are still warned in red letters that you are offline. What’s the point of that? These are almost Microsoft methods (hey, use a secure browser instead…Edge!).
I remember more and more why I wanted to finish Dark Souls II quickly.
