Ah, the difficulty… as if dressed overnight, just when I thought the challenge was over. Soul of Cinder, this last Guardian of Fire, was a worthy final boss. Strong, fast, seemingly with inexhaustible mana, stamina and a steadfastness that ignored even my darkest magic. At first, I entered the arena quite confidently, almost arrogantly. I thought it would be an easy affair – a mere exhibition match for the flickering fires in the Colosseum. But when the flame awoke, I quickly realised that nothing here would be easy.
The fight demanded everything of me, a challenge like I haven’t faced in a long time. My servant? Useless in this chaos. ‘Weight of Death?’ It was as if I had thrown a feather. Soul of Cinder effortlessly penetrated my tactics, relentlessly pounding me with its infinite strength and speed. His spell? Lightning fast and relentless. I had no choice but to wait for gaps – tiny moments when I could even think about striking back. Melee combat was out of the question, because wearing nothing but a shroud, I would hardly survive the first hit. So all I could do was dodge and be endlessly patient until the opportunity arose to unleash my slow spells.
A faster casting circle might have helped me, but after countless attempts, I finally found my way even without it. And when Soul of Cinder finally went down and the last spark went out of his eyes, only one thing remained: to claim the fire for myself. It is time to put an end to this nightmare and finally seal the fate of Lothric and the Ashes.
OOC: What remains to be said about Convergence? First of all, a great mod, a lot of work has gone into this. Unfortunately, however, too little time has been spent on balancing. At the beginning, I found the boss in Undead Settlement very difficult, much too difficult for the beginning. Overall, the beginning was a bit tough. But towards the middle, the difficulty level dropped, it became very easy. And it didn’t stay easy, it became a walk in the park towards the end. This needs to be improved. Especially the fact that you can stagger so often with Weight of Dead… that needs to be limited. Also, Miasma is way too strong and big. I can basically use it as a detector for enemies and actually clear the entire area of trash mobs. I would have rather worked on the companion for the necromancer in particular. It should be a bit stronger, maybe with more tools to strengthen it. Healing is not really important, you have to heal incredibly often to get a life bar back up. A hot bar would be more helpful here.
I don’t know how strong the other classes are, but Fellown was a force of nature at the end. He just pushed Darkeater Midir and Gael aside. These are usually some of the most epic enemies in Dark Souls 3.
I like the mod, especially since I really like pet classes, I like working with minions. I would imagine the Necro more as a reanimator and puppet master. He doesn’t need strong attack spells.
