21 – The Lightreaper

After the cleric, I was at a bit of a loss as to what to do next. I rummaged through my maps and books and also spoke to everyone again on the Skyrest Bridge. Did I miss something? I really didn’t know what to do or where to go next. There was no clue. This was the first time I looked on the internet after a quick search, something about Calrath and I saw a picture of the arena where I once hunted down the hounds and the Ruiner. Okay, that was enough, that’s all I wanted to know.
And what came next? Finally the Lightreaper! How that brat had annoyed me. The boss was once again a challenge. I still haven’t quite figured out all his combos, especially the one where he spins several times and then zips through you. When I play with Coal I concentrate more on the art of fire, which means I’ve withdrawn from melee combat a bit. Here I was forced to get used to it again.
After ~30 minutes, I actually managed to kill him with brute force and skilful evasive manoeuvres, which served more to allow me to replenish mana. So that was a more difficult boss fight for a long time. I enjoyed it. I still have to get used to the reverse strategy, usually running away and looking doesn’t help much. The bosses are often programmed to be aggressive. It’s best to stay with the boss, dodge and use his damage window.
After the fight I got so many nice things from him, unfortunately the swords don’t do any fire damage. It’s a shame, because they glow and somehow look like fire. I was happy to take his flying fire blade, though. His armour doesn’t look so good on Coal, I prefer his current outfit.
As for the swords, I’m annoyed that I didn’t take a closer look and bought them straight away. Without effects, they’re of little use to me, so I’d rather stick with my axe and sword.
