14 – Pilgrim’s Perch (The Ascent)

Location: Pilgrim’s Perge
Boss: The Sacred Resonance of Tenacity

It’s time to see what all the cultists are up to behind closed doors. I open the gate in the bell room and see where the journey takes me. At last, a new and unknown area. When I enter a new area I am much more cautious and often more panicky when things happen that I didn’t expect, for example when a preacher is sitting behind a crate just waiting to push me down the cliff.
The difficulty now increases noticeably. Lots of different enemies covering for each other and attacking together. Coal is and remains a mana hole. But I like the new challenge. Pilgrim’s Perch is really very atmospheric, I like the rain and the night-time mood.
A small mini-boss also wants some attention. I stumbled straight into it on my first attempt and was a bit surprised by the situation. Soulslike games are generally very good at dealing with surprises.
Such situations are only annoying if you have hardly any mana. So far, I’ve found this area to be the most difficult, the most unintelligent and the most devious.
I’m curious to see what’s to come.
