After many hours in Lords of the Fallen, I became aware of a new Souls-like game with a dark fantasy setting. At first glance, I didn’t love it, and in a Lets Play I had a rather negative impression of the animation and controls. But the music and setting seemed appealing. Another Youtuber raved about this game and that it was the best Souls Like Games he had played.
Well, the first hour is over and unfortunately the spark hasn’t really been ignited yet. My negative impression has intensified and I don’t have the feeling that a new masterpiece is waiting here.
But I don’t want to throw in the towel too early and give it a chance. Maybe something will build up and you’ll have to dive deeper into Bleak Faith.
The graphics are mixed so far. Often it is rather sobering and then again there is a dark atmosphere that makes you want more. It’s no Dark Souls, the handling is significantly worse than most other Souls-like games, but… let’s see what it looks like after a few bosses.
I also can’t really categorise what the game is actually about. Is it more medieval? Is it more about magic and dragons? Is it more in an intermediate world in the afterlife or after a great catastrophe… Maybe you’ll at least get a few snippets of the plot.
