04 – My Bumpy Path to Uranopolis

I like it better and better. This oppressive atmosphere and the many questions you ask yourself. I myself often wander around and wonder what has happened. Above all, who am I? Am I perhaps a machine myself? I only see machine beings everywhere. The surroundings also often seem surreal, as if generated by an AI. Some things, buildings and paths don’t fit together logically, even if they look coherent at first glance – a crack in the matrix?
In this new area there are giant robots that want to crush me or whirl me into the air. Not an easy endeavour, but I like it. You get the chance to have little duels. In other Soulslikes (Lords of the Fallen) the number of enemies was simply increased dramatically to increase the difficulty. I like a fair fight. Of course, several small opponents are also okay, but it should still remain manageable.
On my climbing tour through the crumbling tower blocks, I came across a ladder, which led me to Uranopolis. However, I found the previous area just too interesting to want to move straight on to the next one. I also noticed that there hadn’t been a boss for a long time. So my senses were sharpened. Then after a while I realised that my save point was quite a long time ago. Time for a save… and then another boss appeared straight away – Silicon Visage. Wow… he’s a tough one. The tactic from the first boss also applies here, first keep your distance and work on it with small pinpricks (as far as you can tell with a gigantic two-handed hammer) and then get straight out of the fight. That was my plan… but the problem was that he started casting spells. Big red balls are shot at me and if I don’t manage my stamina exactly, I’m dead. I’m not even allowed to dodge too much… then I have no stamina. My tip to the developers here would be to improve the camera control. The lack of clarity is once again the biggest enemy here.
As I lacked stamina, I gave up on Silicon Visage for the time being. I’m not in the mood to kill him by hook or by crook, I’m more in the mood for discovery. I think once I have a bit more stamina he’ll be a lot easier to manage. Even if I still have to think about how to deal with these little beasts that come out of the sky in between. Maybe I’m just too weak and he won’t be a problem later on. There’s far too much to see.
I’m also thinking about whether it might make sense to set off again directly from the first starting point and take a few other routes. Maybe I’ve overlooked something worthwhile? Everything still looks very big and like a labyrinth – I like it!

PS: I’ll have to check Amazon to see if I can buy the soundtrack, it’s exactly the style of music I like and produce myself. Dystopian calm soundscapes.
