Some cool air and a change of scenery in snowy Eleum Loyce will be pleasant… or so I thought. In reality it was one of the most difficult challenges I have experienced so far. Not only does the frosty breath of winter make my bones shiver, but this area is hostile and treacherous to the core.
Frost warriors and mages are waiting at every corner, I don’t even know who is what here, because the warriors also cast spells in a way that makes every wizard jealous and of course the mages also have some good close combat skills. If that weren’t enough, rarely does one come alone. I no longer feel like a cleric, more like a prison escapee where every step has to be carefully considered. I creep from niche to niche, suspecting an enemy in every shadow.
But I don’t like to complain, the view is really wonderful. I have also been able to advance my fighting skills well. My faith is only strengthened by trials.
OOC: Eleum Loyce has really been one of the hardest areas in Dark Souls 2 so far. You are already overcautious when going ahead, but spontaneously you get into an ambush and the ambush then has another ambush or you get a dagger in the back when opening a chest which costs the full life scale although you have searched everything for enemies before. The fun really fell by the wayside despite the beautiful view. I like difficult, but in my opinion they went a bit overboard here. I still managed it because I rarely let go when I have problems, but I would have liked more fun for the player here.
