05 – The Spirit Tree’s Gift: Hazel’s Quest for Arcane Crystals

ooc: This round is all about improving equipment. There wasn’t really much to discover, I only made the video for the sake of completeness so that you can see how the development went.

Hazel crept through the shadowed halls of the Cathedral, where the only light flickered from the ominous glow of the Deacons of the Deep. These dark guardians were no easy foes, but they carried something Hazel urgently needed – the rare, blue Arcane Crystals, infused with ancient and potent energy. The crystals shimmered in her hands, as though they held the very magic of the place within them. Hazel knew these treasures held a special purpose.

With Ivy perched on her shoulder and Sparky, her watchful skeletal hound, at her side, she prepared for the final bout against the Deacons. She summoned her new spell, Essence Shatter, and a radiant crystal lifted into the air before raining down a cascade of green energy upon the Deacons. Their dark forms staggered under the spell’s force, and after a grueling battle, the Deacons lay defeated before her. As the last of them fell, Hazel carefully gathered the blue crystals some had dropped.

Her journey led her back to the Undead Settlement, deep below the ruins, to a hidden grove where the Spirit Tree stood. The tree was surrounded by a majestic silence, its luminous roots glowing like moonlight in the shadows. Hazel knelt before it, placing the gathered crystals reverently among its roots. The Spirit Tree reacted immediately, its branches beginning to glow, and the blue light of the crystals radiated outward, washing over Hazel and her surroundings in a wave of magic.

In return for her efforts, the Spirit Tree transformed the crystals into a powerful set of armor, which now shimmered in a mysterious blue hue across her shoulders. Additionally, it gifted her a new spell, Lunar Ward, a protective shield as strong as the crystals themselves. Hazel felt the ancient magic connect with her spirit, and Ivy squeaked quietly on her shoulder, as if sensing the power too. Sparky’s bony tail wagged proudly, his empty eye sockets glinting softly as he gave a nod to the Spirit Tree.

“Thank you, old friend,” Hazel whispered, bowing deeply before the tree. With her new armor and the Spirit Tree’s blessing, she felt fortified and ready for the challenges ahead. She continued her journey, now cloaked in ancient magic, knowing the power of the crystals would accompany her along the way—a gift from the Spirit Tree she would not soon forget.
