012 – Upper Calrath & Fief of the Chill Curse

I realise that Hyun is clearly too strong for the opponents. You shave through the hordes of opponents with ease. But there’s also the danger of getting overconfident. The fact that you’re very strong doesn’t mean that the enemies don’t do any damage. Especially the element of surprise that they sometimes have on their side sometimes gets me or Hyun into trouble.
Upper Calrath had to be crossed and then straight to Fief of the Chill Curse. Upper Calrath wasn’t really anything special. It would just be the natural path after defeating the Skin Stealer boss. The very first time I played through I had overlooked the Revelation Depths and went straight up in the lift.

Fief of the Chill Curse was a bit trickier. The first boss directly after the portal in the cave was very sneaky. He was protected by a Spirit that I had to take out first, and he also had two aggressive dogs with him that kept interrupting me. Oh, and if I was a bit clumsy and was banished to the Umbral World as punishment, there was also a huge stone face waiting there that would shoot at me and try to jump on me.

After that it was actually quite relaxed. It’s important not to rush things at the moment and to proceed slowly. Despite the high level, it’s all too easy to slip somewhere, get thrown down or overlook an enemy and perhaps lose your last bit of life through carelessness.

I was already aware that the crow wasn’t a big problem. Fire is an element that causes bonus damage. The only danger is between battles, when the crow throws icicles and many other icicles and frost icicles try to catch you.
I realised that Hyun is very strong, actually far too strong for the current locations, when I faced the Lightreaper. Normally this is just a show fight where you see him the second time. In this case, Hyun threw him off the dragon and wiped the floor with him. Well, she wasn’t quite that superior, but it was enough for her to defeat him in this round. I’ll save the actual fight where I could have lost under certain circumstances and have to play everything again.
I changed the weapon again. I thought the axe was really good, but I like Hellbarden more, maybe I’ll get my hands on a second cool axe, then I could switch again. But together with the current eye in the lamp, I can score points with the halberd because it’s very difficult to interrupt me in combat. And when Hyun strikes, she usually gets the damage she took in Wither credited back to her.

Things are going very well at the moment, I’m just waiting for a special ring at Winterberry.
Next stop… Pilgrim’s Perch, the hallowed brothers are next.
