The path through Fitzroy’s Gorge was no simple passage. The cliffs seemed to whisper with the memory of blood, their shadows haunted by hymns long silenced. And there, among the broken stones and wind-torn banners, Makoa faced a trial unlike any before: the hulking form of the Ruiner.
Encased in bone-like armor, shield and axe in hand, the creature moved with a dreadful weight, each strike threatening to bury him beneath rock and ash. Yet Makoa endured. With halberd in hand and the stubborn will that had carried him through swamp and fen, he weathered the onslaught. The clash echoed through the gorge like the judgment of gods. When the dust finally settled, the Ruiner lay broken, its shield splintered, its might undone. The gorge grew silent again — but Makoa knew this silence was only a pause, never a reprieve.
From there, his steps carried him into the cursed heart of Lower Calrath. The city burned with infernal light, its ruins bathed in a glow of embers and despair. Ash drifted through the air like snow, choking the lungs, veiling the streets in a constant shroud of sorrow. It was here that he found his next foe: the Infernal Enchantress, a mistress of flame and ruin.
She descended upon him with firewoven incantations, her form wreathed in unholy embers, each gesture birthing infernos meant to scour flesh from bone. Against her, steel alone seemed insufficient — it was endurance, timing, and unyielding resolve that kept Makoa alive. Flames licked at his armor, seared his flesh, yet he pressed forward, refusing to fall. With every desperate strike, he carved a path through the firestorm, until at last the enchantress faltered, her flames sputtering into dying embers.
When her body collapsed among the burning stones, the fire dimmed — but Calrath itself remained a city of ruin, its streets lined with shadows that promised further torment.
And so Makoa stands at the threshold of deeper darkness. The gorge behind him, the city before him, his halberd scarred by battle yet unbroken. Still the question lingers, heavier than any weapon: which path will he choose — Radiance, Inferno, or the cold certainty of steel and flesh alone?
