“The Undead Settlement was a pit of decay and desperation, and yet, amidst the rubble and ruin, I found traces of life—or rather, what was left of it.”
As I made my way through those cursed streets, shadows clung to me like old friends. The stench of rot hung thick in the air, mingling with the low, haunting moans of those poor souls who wandered the alleys, trapped between life and death. Broken shacks and twisted alleys formed a labyrinth around me, every turn revealing a new horror. In truth, it felt like a twisted homecoming, though this was not Umbra’s Hollow, my birthplace, where darkness had once been a comfort. Here, it was a prison.
Then, in the distance, I saw him—the Druid Caimar, standing on the village square, flanked by the remains of twisted trees and vines that pulsed with unnatural life. His eyes were sharp, calculating, and he radiated an aura of twisted magic that prickled against my skin. I had heard whispers of him, of his power to control and corrupt the life around him, bending it to his will. I knew then that my own powers, still weakened and slumbering, were not yet ready for the challenge he posed. It frustrated me; I am not accustomed to retreat. Yet even I understand the wisdom of patience.
So, I moved silently through the settlement, letting the darkness hide me. With each step, I took what I could—fragments of broken charms, old tomes filled with ancient, almost-forgotten spells, vials of strange elixirs. They would serve me well in time, feeding my power, bringing me one step closer to the strength I once wielded without hesitation.
As I slipped through the final gate and left the Undead Settlement behind, I cast one last glance over my shoulder. Caimar stood tall, his gaze fixed on the twisted landscape, unaware of my presence, unaware of the reckoning that would come.
“I will return,” I whispered into the night, a promise and a warning. Caimar may be powerful, but he does not yet know what it means to face Ravenna Noir. When I return, I will not be the shadow lurking in the corners. No—next time, I will stand before him, and he will know fear.
