016 – The Damn Glintstone Dragon Adula

When I finally left the cave of Astel behind me I came to a magical clearing, it must have been somewhere in Lurnia. In the distance I saw a crumbling church. Since churches always offered nice loot in the past, I immediately went there. Before I reached the church, I heard thunder and a dragon manifested itself in front of me… what a beast. It was big, covered with purple and blue crystals. What a hunk. But there was no time for admiration, the Glinstone dragon had it in for me.

Now it was my turn to take revenge for never having been much of a magician, I had to compete with a dragon in hand-to-hand combat. That was a great test and challenge. After a few fights I knew that what I could do was not enough. I can’t get through his scales with a hammer. I need something sharper, something that I could drive through the scales into the dragon’s flesh with my strength. And I needed force.

I immediately thought of Caelid, when I was there in Fortress Gael I thought of the lion beast. She was there for a reason, she was guarding something. It was guarding the instructions to a skill I could use now – Lionsclaw.
Once I had acquired this technique, all I needed was a suitable tool. A pickaxe was still in my armoury.

With the pickaxe I could reach through the scales into the soft dragon flesh and tear deep wounds. And so it was, Azula howled when he felt pain for the first time. He fought even harder and angrier, which didn’t make it any easier for me. Victory came close several times, but at the last moment Azula still managed to turn the tide. Now I remembered a grease for the weapon that infected the wounds and inflamed them. This provided the last bit needed to bring down the huge dragon beast. What a fight, what a victory.
