02 – The Alleys of Paris

We have reached Paris and are hurrying through the alleyways. For me, however, it currently looks more like a muddy suburb, you get a good impression of what was going on in Paris back in 1789. Somehow, all major changes always have to be paid for in blood, rarely does man initiate major changes without the help of pain, this applies to the small personal sphere as well as to the larger political and social interplay.

The opponents are now becoming more challenging and I have to deal with the controls. At the moment I still want to dodge and jump like I’m used to from Surge2 or Dark Souls. It will still take a little while.

But even after this short time, I’m already noticing rough edges, the controls are a bit awkward and the collision detection is very generous. I’ve now discovered new attacks such as aerial combos, which help a lot… but not always. You really have to get to know your opponent to decide whether he’s doing a ranged attack or an AE (now it’s a matter of gaining distance). I’ll learn for sure… it costs a lot of souls… or whatever the current currency is called.
