03 – Fellown’s Grim Discoveries in the Undead Settlement

This village is nothing short of madness. Desperate souls offer the perfect soil for the weeds of fanatical believers, who wait for the moment to spread their poison. And here, in the Undead Settlement, despair is everywhere. More and more people succumb to the hollow madness, attacking anything that crosses their path. In their blind panic, they even send fanatics from the Cathedral of the Deep, promising ‘cleansing’ through fire and blood.

As I’ve always said: Death is not the worst thing that can happen. This place proves my point once again. Humans… they poison their own minds with fear and madness. There are many reasons why I stay away from the living. For one, I’m not exactly welcome in their company, and second, I refuse to let my clear vision be tainted by their sick thoughts. The dead, on the other hand, are much more… content. Stronger. And above all: obedient.

A reanimated corpse follows my command without hesitation, without negotiation. It cannot be swayed by words—it acts as commanded. Yet, amidst all the madness I found here, there were a few shining moments. In the dark corners of the local catacombs, I stumbled upon a treasure—a book of necromantic secrets. It expands my knowledge, bringing new minions, new miasmas, new plagues. Everything a necromancer’s heart desires.

And the gifts don’t stop there… No, beneath the church, I discovered the entrance to the Catacombs of Carthus. A brief glance into that famed burial ground rewarded me with not only a hammer—the Maul of the Dead—but also a new talisman. All in all, my visit to the Undead Settlement was… quite fruitful. Though it pains me to see even the undead follow the calls of the fanatical church. But in the end, it doesn’t matter to me. The dead don’t negotiate. They obey.
