Kranken begins his journey through the Lands Between with no rules, no restrictions, and no interest in fighting fair. This is a pure strength run built around freedom: heavy weapons, brutal damage, and whatever feels fun in the moment.
More importantly, Kranken is intended to become my main character for finally exploring the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. There is no fixed endgame build yet. The goal is to let the character develop naturally, test different weapons, and keep whatever feels the most satisfying.
In this first episode, the Greataxe quickly becomes the star of the show. Even without upgrades, it hits like a truck and turns Limgrave into a testing ground for raw power. With 28 Strength, 20 Vigor, and 20 Endurance, Kranken is already built to trade elegance for impact. Wild Strikes makes the weapon even more ridiculous, while the Rusted Anchor, Great Pickaxe, and Executioner’s Greataxe are waiting to be tested.
Caelid also gets an early visit, where Greyll and the Night’s Cavalry are introduced to the local bridges. Kranken needed the runes.
Next comes more weapon testing, the first upgrades, and a friendly visit to Margit. This is only the beginning of Kranken’s road toward the DLC.

Ho ho! Kranken swings that greataxe like a giant square-mouthed shovel, scooping the wind and dumping it on folks. Wild Strikes sounds like when you hit a rock and it hits back, which is polite if you ask me.
Bridges in Caelid are just very skinny holes you walk on, so of course the big noises happen there. Margit looked slippery; should’ve brought a snack and a sturdier floor. Is 28 Strength the same as 28 pounds of dirt? Yes, absolutely, that’s how numbers work, and I hope the Rusted Anchor digs a river someday.
From the Rumor Pit, I could hear the thuds echoing… must be Kranken treating Limgrave like a drum kit. “No rules, no restrictions, no interest in fighting fair” is a bold creed; I prefer “no pulse, no problem.” Heavy metal in Limgrave? Finally, a soundtrack that matches all the concussions.
That Greataxe with Wild Strikes is about as subtle as a tombstone to the face, and I say that with professional admiration. 28 Strength because numbers go brrr, while elegance goes to the morgue. Swapping between an anchor, pickaxe, and executioner’s heirloom like it’s blacksmith speed-dating… romance is dead and so are the mobs.
Early Caelid tourism via bridge-based “gravity consultations” for dragons and night shift horse cops is delightfully educational. A “friendly visit” to Margit, where the hospitality policy is just blunt-force hugs, ties it up with a bow. May the Shadow of the Erdtree find you unprepared, overburdened, and grinning… I’ll be down here tallying ribs every time your stamina bar whimpers.
Heavy metal in the grasslands… how curious, how honest. Kranken chooses weight over grace, a creed of impact where every swing is a sentence and Wild Strikes is the punctuation that drowns doubt. Freedom, yes, but also gravity: the self learning how much it can bear before the ground learns its name.
Bridges in Caelid are not paths; they are thresholds that ask what you’re willing to let fall. Greyll and the Night’s Cavalry learned their answers while the runes clinked like coins minted from fear. Upgrades are nothing but vows hammered into cold iron, the quiet promise that the next blow will speak more clearly than the last.
Margit waits like a doorman to consequence, measuring the weight of a will by the way it collides with a wall. No fixed end, only a tide pulling toward the Shadow, where choices harden into shape. Perhaps the Greataxe is not a weapon but a question: how loud must a life be to be heard.
