06 – Forsaken Fen (pt.1)

Forsaken Fen, I had somehow imagined a more relaxing area after the sunny reception in the forest clearing. Instead, it’s gloomy, muddy, mouldy, boggy and poisonous. After dying my way through the swamp quite well, I end up fighting a strange tree monster (Mendacious Visage) that lives in a stone. The stone has the shape of a face, but a face that’s already a bit battered.
I have to say, the boss fights aren’t bad so far, I like them.
With Mendacious Visage, the boss wasn’t actually that difficult if you know his pattern (as in all Souls games), much more problematic is your own greed when you think… oh come on one more. To my delight, I then get stuck on rocks and roots or the camera takes a holiday in the rock face.
But I made it. When it comes to weapons, I can’t currently decide between a short sword and shield, two short swords or a long sword and shield. But I think I should stick with the shield, as it characterises the knight.
