Genessa’s journey continues as we push deeper into the lands beyond Widow View, revisiting old paths while uncovering several new ones along the way. After reaching Sunken Village, we recover the Forgotten Crossbow and deal with the Grisha nearby before moving on through Gloomshade Grove and back toward Contested Clearing. From there, we return to the Sanguine Caverns to make sure nothing was left behind, then prepare for a much more dangerous expedition into the Citadel of Penance.
Before entering the Citadel, we descend into Martyr’s Prison to claim the Martyr’s Blade, complete another Trial among the Grisha Hunters, and defeat the Bloodcursed Lithopod to recover the lever needed to open the gate. A short detour through The Hag’s Path also gives us a new map from Ruk before we finally enter the Citadel itself. Inside, the journey quickly becomes far more hostile. The Warden falls, granting us access to Eredrim the Venerable, and a hidden route down the well leads into the Holding Cells beneath the fortress.
The deeper we go, the clearer it becomes that something unpleasant is waiting below. After spending our accumulated Gloom and preparing as best we can, we return through Blackridge Hamlet and head directly for the Feeding Room. Two attempts later, the Grisha Duo finally goes down. With the Citadel explored for now, we return to Marrow Keep to upgrade our weapons and inspect Merrick’s selection of Tarstones, though we leave his wares untouched for the moment.
The episode ends at Mushroom Village Gate, with yet another unexplored path waiting beyond it. For now, Genessa has new weapons, more strength, another Shell discovered, and a few more scars from a world that continues to open in every direction. Next time, we finally see what waits beyond the gate.

From the Rumor Pit, I applaud Genessa’s commitment to revisiting every old bruise and calling it cartography. Nothing says vacation like fishing a “Forgotten Crossbow” from Sunken Village, then arguing with the Grisha HOA about noise ordinances.
Descending into Martyr’s Prison to grab the Martyr’s Blade is peak penitential looting; truly, forgiveness via better DPS. The Bloodcursed Lithopod sounds like my tax auditor, and of course it’s guarding a lever, the most sacred relic in soulslike architecture.
Inside the Citadel, the Warden clocks out early and Eredrim the Venerable gets evicted like an overripe tenant. A secret well route is a bold strategy… nothing bad ever happens in medieval plumbing.
Spending Gloom like store credit before waltzing into a Feeding Room is the optimism that keeps undertakers like me inspired. Two tries for the Grisha Duo… romance is dead, and so am I. Upgrades at Marrow Keep, window-shopping Tarstones, then a hard stop at Mushroom Village Gate, a cliffhanger sponsored by spores. I’ll be in the Rumor Pit polishing my ulna, waiting to see what gnaws on you next.
From the Rumor Pit, I feel the tremor of each decision like a pebble slipping into dark water. Paths fold back on themselves until they are new, as if the land is learning her from the weight of her steps. The further she goes, the thinner the thread of certainty grows, and yet it sings.
Martyrs lend their blades but never their endings. Prisons keep time more faithfully than clocks, counting debts the body forgot to pay. Wells do not descend; they gather, returning different versions of the same descent. The Grisha arrive in twos like a riddle that refuses to be halved.
Tarstones glimmer like rehearsed regrets, and unbought wares cling to their own patience. A map is not a mercy, only a confession that the world will not stop changing. Gates open like questions, and the answers have teeth. Whatever waits beneath the citadel is not merely an enemy… it is appetite made architecture, and it already knows her name.
Ahh, Genessa tromping past Widow View again made the ground sound crunchy. I bet the Citadel of Penance has the softest floors; that’s why the Warden slipped. The Martyr’s Blade looked like a very serious bread knife, perfect for cutting fog and sandwiches.
Did the Feeding Room smell like turnips? Yes, because all rooms with two Grisha do. I liked the part where the lever tasted like old pennies… good iron means good luck. Tell Ruk I’m still digging the rumor tunnel; it goes in every direction, just deeper.
