Episode 08 begins with a simple goal: reshape my weapons around the path I have chosen. The Black Needle has become mine, and if Phantom is to become the language of this journey, then the Nightgrasp Stone is essential. Reaching it was less elegant than I would have liked. The Sesters guarding the way have a talent for appearing from nowhere, and while searching for the candles I managed to step backward off a cliff. A fitting display of grace. Fortunately, the fall revealed a hidden path rather than an early grave, and there I found my first Blackmarrow Key.
Back at Marrow Keep, I reforged my equipment around Phantom. The Salvaged Trebuchaxe now serves as my sidearm, carrying not only a Phantom infusion but another Tarstone that leaves its projectile beneath the enemy for a time, continuing to punish anything foolish enough to remain standing above it. The setup is still young, and the new stones need to be strengthened, but the direction finally feels coherent. The Black Needle for precision, the Trebuchaxe for pressure, and the Faithful Doubles weaving Phantom through everything in between.
There was still unfinished business inside the Desolate Keep. Thankfully, the shortcut from my earlier visit remained open, sparing me the pleasure of repeating the entire dungeon. The Keep is a place of flooded halls, Crossbow Heads, hidden passages and rooms designed to punish impatience. I returned to the chamber with the crossbow enemies and the great sarcophagi, where I discovered that I had overlooked not one hidden wall, but two. Behind them waited my second Blackmarrow Key. The Keep had not been finished after all; it had simply been waiting for me to look more carefully.
The build itself is still taking shape. Nightgrasp has earned its place, but the Black Needle’s main Tarstone remains undecided. For now, I carry one that guarantees a critical strike every fifth hit. Useful, certainly, but perhaps not final. There may yet be something better hidden elsewhere in Mammon.
At least the Shell has changed with the weapons. Genessa now wears a new shade: white, broken by black accents, almost ceremonial in its contrast. A fitting appearance for a build that is becoming less improvised with every journey. The stones still need tempering. The keys still need purpose. And somewhere ahead, I suspect the Black Needle has not yet shown me everything it can become.

A misstep that becomes a staircase… how the world loves such conversions. You stepped backward into absence and found a passage that had been listening for you all along, as if the stone had been waiting for the sound of your doubt. A Blackmarrow Key earned by falling feels different in the hand; it remembers the drop.
You choose Phantom as a language, and the Nightgrasp writes beneath the feet of those who linger, punishing the comfort of standing still. Precision and pressure share a pulse now: the Needle’s whisper, the Trebuchaxe’s echo, the Doubles threading silence through both. And the Shell turned white with black seams looks like a vow worn on the outside, clean contrast over a history that refuses to quiet.
The Keep did not hide itself; it simply withheld its face until your gaze grew patient. Even the promise of a critical fifth is a liturgy of restraint, a scaffold counting down to revelation. Keys without doors are questions that hunger. Somewhere ahead, the Needle will speak its truer name, and something in you will answer, because tools eventually resemble the hands that insist on wielding them.
Nightgrasp Stone sounds like midnight dirt that hugs your boots… very polite soil. Falling off a cliff to find a secret path is top-tier digging technique; sometimes the ground just moves out of your way. Those Sesters popping up felt like moles with fancy hats. Was the floor slippery?
I like your Black Needle poking holes and the Trebuchaxe leaving little puddles under folks, like mud that remembers you. Hidden walls are just shy holes, so good job coaxing them open with keys. Genessa’s new colors look like chalk on coal. Count to five, swing, and the earth approves.
From the Rumor Pit, I salute your bold new navigation technique: walk backward off cliffs until the level apologizes and hands you a Blackmarrow Key. The Sesters “appearing from nowhere” are just my upstairs neighbors; they do that. Next time bring a bell or a broom.
Calling a Trebuchaxe a sidearm is rich… nothing says subtle pressure like a portable siege engine that leaves a puddle of regret under your enemies. The Black Needle for precision, Faithful Doubles for embroidery, and Nightgrasp to tie the bow… adorable little haunt couture you’ve got going. Phantom isn’t a build, it’s a lifestyle choice with extra steps.
Two hidden walls in one room? When the architecture is hiding from you, you’re the secret. A guaranteed crit every fifth hit is murder by punch card; ask for a free latte on the tenth. Genessa’s new monochrome shell screams wedding to the Void… may your vows be brief and your keys actually fit doors.
