13 – One Last Walk Before the End

Genessa was not quite ready to leave Mammon behind, so before opening the final Corrupted Gate, we took one last long walk through familiar ground.
There was still some Gloom to collect, a few paths worth checking again, and one unfinished matter waiting in Castigator’s Keep. Egon received another 10,000 Gloom from me, bringing the total investment to roughly 14,000. Apparently that was enough. He thanked us, finally found peace, and left behind around 28,000 Gloom in return. For once, feeding a grotesque man in a tower turned out to be a sound financial decision.

From there, we wandered the Hag Path again, revisited the Sanguine Caverns, and checked the remaining corners that still looked suspicious on the map. Somehow, there was even one dungeon left to discover. After that, though, the world became quiet. No hidden road suddenly opened. No forgotten weapon appeared behind a wall. No mysterious Shell was waiting in some overlooked ruin.

It seems we really did see almost everything. So this final excursion became less about progress and more about taking in the places one last time. The swamps, the ruins, the strange white architecture, the caves, the towers, the paths that once felt confusing and enormous but now seem almost familiar.
And with that, there is really only one thing left to do. The last Corrupted Gate is still closed. It is time to open it.
